The head of the Environmental Protection Agency announced her resignation Thursday after four years on the job.
Lisa Jackson said she's ready for new challenges and more time with her family.
Jackson's tenure was marked by high-profile brawls with congressional Republicans over issues that included global warming and the Keystone oil pipeline.
Jackson plans to leave her post after President Barack Obama's State of the Union address next month.
