The city's jobs market is looking up in spite of lost work and business caused by Hurricane Sandy.

The New York State Department of Labor's preliminary data shows unemployment rates dropped across the state this past year.

Citywide unemployment stands at about 8.7 percent for November, down from 8.9 percent for the same period last year.

Eighty-eight thousand private-sector jobs were also added across the state.

The department says those jobs took a hit from Hurricane Sandy, forcing more than 29,000 out of work last month.

Analysts say they're still studying the full impact of the storm on the jobs market.

The Bronx currently has the highest unemployment rate statewide, at 11.8 percent.
