Senator Charles Schumer announced Sunday that 72 city residents are among the 225 New Yorkers who won a statewide ticket lottery to attend the presidential inauguration next month.

Each winner will get two tickets for the inauguration.

Some of the winners were encouraged to apply by family members, including one woman whose husband suggested they enter.

"He's not an Internet person, and he called me and said, 'You have to enter this lotto so we can go to the inauguration,' and he gave me the website. I said, that's a sign, I better do it right now," said Chenise Marine-Rice, one of the winners.

"I never thought that, like, we could actually have a chance to go and see the inauguration. So I thought that was pretty cool," said Andrew Wilson, another winner.

"I said, 'Tareek, guess where we're going?' He's like, 'Oh my god, mommy, I'm crying inside. I can't believe we won,'" said Dwana Taylor, a third winner.

President Barack Obama's second inauguration will be held on January 21.
