New York's highest court announced Tuesday it will not hear a challenge to the same-sex marriage law.

The New York State Court of Appeals turned the case away, and did not offer an explanation.

The decision ends the most prominent objection to the law.

In July, a lower court ruling stated closed-door negotiations between senators, gay marriage supporters, and Governor Andrew Cuomo did not violate the state's open meetings law.

New York passed the law in 2011, becoming the largest state to legalize same-sex marriage.
