Military veterans across New York State will get to put that distinction on their driver licenses.
Under a new state law signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo, veterans will get a distinguishing mark on their licenses identifying their military status.
State officials say it makes it easier for businesses who provide discounts to veterans to verify their status.
Veterans will be able to request the mark from the Department of Motor Vehicles - they can get it for non-driver identification cards as well.
The law goes into effect next year.
