The military sentenced Monday a fifth soldier charged in connection with the death of Private Danny Chen, an Army soldier from Manhattan who committed suicide last fall.
Specialist Thomas Curtis, 27, pleaded guilty Monday to hazing, assault, and other charges.
He will serve three months in military confinement and his rank will be reduced to private.
During his sentencing hearing at Fort Bragg, N.C., Curtis apologized to Chen's family, admitting he had gone too far.
Prosecutors say Chen, seen above, was pelted with rocks, kicked, dragged and called racial slurs.
Authorities say Chen committed suicide last October because of the hazing.
Eight soldiers were charged in Chen's death.
