The future of the Kingsbridge Armory could be on ice.

NY1 has learned that Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. will come out in favor of a plan to turn the landmark armory into a skating rink.

If the proposal is approved, it would bring a total of nine regulation hockey rinks and a 5,000 seat capacity, making it one of the largest indoor ice sports centers in the world.

In 2009, the city approved a plan to turn the century-old building into retail space but the deal fell through because of community opposition.

Diaz himself was opposed to the retail plan because it did not guarantee workers a living wage.
