A former campaign treasurer for City Comptroller John Liu has been indicted on charges related to her alleged involvement in a straw donor scheme, the U.S. Attorney's office announced Friday.

Jenny Hou, 25, was arrested back in February for allegedly attempting to get over-the-limit campaign donations to Liu's potential 2013 mayoral campaign.

According to the indictment, Hou is alleged to have worked with fundraisers for Liu to use straw donors to bring in illegal donations.

Hou had been a volunteer for Liu's 2009 race for city comptroller.

She is the second indictment affiliated with the Liu campaign.

In November, Liu fundraiser Oliver Pan was accused of concocting a straw donor scheme to also get over the limit campaign contributions to Liu.

Both Pan and Hou are scheduled to appear in federal court on Tuesday.

A spokesperson from from Liu's campaign released a statement saying, in part, "John believes Jenny, and he believes in her. The allegations remain just that - unproven allegations."
