It's a new era in political journalism when a website appropriately named The Dirty is breaking the news of the day. But dirty is how most people feel after reading the latest chapter in the seemingly never-ending sexting scandal involving Anthony Weiner. Like an alcoholic who has never truly come clean, Weiner is now admitting to engaging in bad behavior as recently as last summer. Sounding like Ike Turner, he's promising that it's all behind him. Again.

In an amazing Hail Mary move ripped from the Clinton playbook, Weiner's long-suffering wife, Huma, stood by his side yesterday and gamely voiced support for her husband, saying that the issue is "between us and our marriage." But if Don Draper were running for mayor, wouldn't we all be thinking about his unhinged behavior on "Mad Men" for the last six seasons?

While Weiner's political strategy has always been "me against the world", it may be truly coming to that – with all three of the city's major newspapers running editorials today urging him to drop out of the race. But the dramatic emergence of Huma Abedin signals that Weiner isn't going down without a fight. It's a desperate threading-the-needle strategy but in this bizarre political season, I'm not convinced that it can't work. Huma's standing by her man. Will anyone else?
