Zagat Gourmet Shopping: Bagels And Coffee
If you're out and about for the day in TriBeCa, there are some new places to stop for a sip or a bite. NY1 visited two neighborhood refueling spots listed in the Zagat Gourmet Shopping and Entertaining Guide.
La Colombe
319 Church Street

Zagat says thanks to this new local outpost, New Yorkers no longer have to take a trip down the turnpike to buy coffee from Philadelphia's legendary artisanal coffee roaster. Surveyors describe the space as minimalist, with just a few seats. They say that leaves all the focus on the "expertly" brewed espresso and coffee, offered along with pastries.
A new addition to Zagat, La Colombe is not yet rated, but the guide says prices are expensive.
Zuckers Bagels and Smoked Fish
146 Chambers Street
212-608-5844
Zagat calls this "friendly" TriBeCa arrival a "welcome addition to a bagel-starved downtown." According to the guide, Zuckers has been "reeling' em in" from day one with "fresh, tasty hand-rolled rounds" and "delish smoked fish and spreads." Some customers say it's "still working out the kinks." But most fans report it "keeps getting better and better."
Out of a possible 30, Zagat gives Zuckers a rating of 22 for quality, 18 for display, and 18 for service. The guide lists prices as moderate.
