NY1's 20th Anniversary celebration continued Thursday night, as celebrities and politicians turned out for an anniversary part at the New York Public Library.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg was even on hand to proclaim the 11th to be "NY1 day."

Glenn Britt, the Chairman and CEO of Time Warner Cable, offered praise for the station's success.

"I think we thought that we had a very good idea of covering local New York City news, 24 hours a day," Britt said. "I don't think we really could dream of what's happened. It is so popular and so important to the citizens of New York City. And of course, we've expanded to other cities now, too, but this is the flagship. And really, we had not idea it would be this successful and this important. But we couldn't be happier."

"It's a big part of New York City," Mayor Bloomberg said. "I watch, everybody watches NY1."

Several NY1 employees have been with the station for the entire 20 year run, including anchors Roma Torre, Lewis Dodley and Budd Mishkin.
