Nothing says summer like the return of the USA Network's "Burn Notice." When it comes to light, fun fare on television, which is what we're all pretty much looking forward to this time of year, "Burn Notice" is about as good as it gets.
The drama, which follows blacklisted spy Michael Westen as he tries to get back into the espionage game while also taking private jobs on the side, recently returned for a third season of fun in the sun.
The big twist this time around is that the shady organization that had been protecting Michael from all of his enemies has now stopped protecting him, meaning old foes and friends-turned-foes are now coming out of the woodwork.
The other development is the on and off again romance between Michael and his partner Fiona. Can they make it work in love while also working together? Of course, the two can never be truly happy or else there would be no relationship and sexual tension to drive the show, but as programs like "Moonlighting" and "The X Files" have shown, at some point a couple has to hook up or shut up.
And then there is the show's secret weapon - sidekick Sam, played by Bruce Campbell. Campbell, best known for his hammy roles in horror shlock like the "Evil Dead" films, steals scenes as an ex-Navy Seal with a love for tacky shirts and bottled beer. Sam, like Michael and Fiona, actually can kick butt when he needs to but is also loads of fun.
It's what makes "Burn Notice" such an appealing show. You get your action, you get your comedy, and yes, you get your young hotties walking around in skimpy clothes, which is no doubt why the network decided to set the drama in Miami.
There's no doubt about it - "Burn Notice" is still hot stuff.
