NY1's Valarie D'Elia has some great ideas on where to spend New Year's Eve, both locally and abroad.

Here are a trio of trips to help celebrate the New Year.

You can celebrate the arrival of 2012 with a bang within easy reach of Manhattan, since the Tarrytown Doubletree Hilton features an interactive Murder Mystery called "Desperate Mobwives." It includes a room, a three-course dinner with beer and wine, midnight champagne toast and breakfast buffet the next morning. The cost is $329 per couple, plus tax and tips. Call 1-914-524-6404 to reserve and visit www.mysterymanhattan.com for details.

For some formerly forbidden fireworks, ring in the New Year along Cuba’s Malecon with a trip to Havana. Insight Cuba is one of the tour operators specially licensed to bring Americans to the Caribbean island under the reauthorized People To People program.
Five tours coincide with New Year’s Eve and each includes hotel and meals. Flights to Miami are extra, while the charter flight from Miami to Havana is either included or reduced on some departures. Rates range from $1,995 per person double occupancy for four days to $3,295 for eight days. Visit www.insightcuba.com for details.

Set sail around the Times Square madness with a front-row seat for the Statue of Liberty fireworks. Join Circle Line sightseeing for a three-hour cruise from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. The $140 ticket includes open bar, hors d’oeuvres, DJ, party favors and champagne toast. Visit www.circleline42.com for details.
