Technology is once again on full display at New York Fashion Week. NY1's Adam Balkin filed the following report.

When techies try to horn in on the action at New York Fashion Week, here's what you get: A high-tech concept dress on display at Bloomingdale's created not by Vera Wang, not Donatella Versace, but...Microsoft.

"Well the trend is something called 'wearable computing' and we're hearing a lot more about it right now at New York Fashion Week and behind me is the Microsoft Research Printed Dress and it is a dress that's entirely made out of paper," explains Steve Clayton of Microsoft. "So the entire dress is made out of paper and then has a keyboard on the bodice of the dress which is an electronic keyboard you can type on and then beneath the dress is a projector and then what happens is you can type tweets on keyboard and they appear on the surface of the dress or you can send a message to a hashtag -- #MSBloomingdales -- and the Tweets will appear on the dress."

Microsoft says the dress is a concept in two ways: First to see how technology can be integrated with fashion. Secondly, to study the social implications of a tech dress and what it would mean to actually wear live Tweets.

And though this may seem like a crazy, far out concept, developers actually say this is definitely doable using technology you probably carry around with you every day.

"All of the capability in this thing -- or a lot of it I should say -- is available in something like a smartphone right now. So we have tiny projectors, we have computing capability in very small devices so you could easily see something like this on the market in the next few years," says Clayton.

The dress will be on display at Bloomingdale's flagship store in the Big Apple throughout Fashion Week. Again if you'd like to Tweet to it, you can do so at #MSBloomingdales.
