The new iPhone 3GS went on sale this morning, bringing New Yorkers to Apple stores across the city.
Although there were lines, there were fewer crowds than when previous iPhone models went on sale. One reason for that is Apple and AT&T took pre-orders online this year.
The new model has a faster processor and an upgraded camera.
Some came to upgrade from their old phone, while others were looking to get their first iPhone
"I do have an iPhone now," said one New Yorker. "I guess mine is getting a bit old, so I'll try and get a new one."
"My company's going to give us deals," said another. "I'm carrying the iPhone instead of the company Blackberry, so I get to get rid of like four things, so it's definitely a deal."
"This is my third [iPhone]," said a third New Yorker. "I've never waited in line because I've always waited like one or two weeks after the whole rush."
The new model costs either $199 or $299 depending on the memory capacity.
