If you're looking for a rental with only $2,800 a month to spare, NY1 is covering a couple of gems in that price range. NY1's Real Estate reporter Jill Urban filed the following report.
For the latest look at the rental market, NY1 did a little searching within a budget of $2,800.
Manhattan One-Bedroom

"This is a spacious one-bed, one-bath over at Carnegie Park. There’s excellent light, great closet space," says Abramovitz. "The kitchen is a pass-through with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. The bathroom has a marble vanity. The bedroom is very large, you could fit a king-sized bed and other pieces of furniture easily."
Building amenities include a doorman, gym with a pool and a private garden. The rent is $2,795, but they are offering one month free rent. There is a $100 application fee to apply and it is available on June 1 for a one- or two-year lease.
Brooklyn Loft

The next space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn is a fabulous duplex loft with an open floor plan.

In addition to the three bedrooms, there is also a room that can serve as an office or a den. The rent is $2,795 plus utilities. They are offering one month free, making the net rent $2,562. There is a broker’s fee of month’s rent plus a $50 application fee. It is available for a one-year lease only.
