The search to see what you can get for your money in New York City real estate continues. NY1's Jill Urban filed the following report on what you can get in the $800,000 range. The first property is a two-bedroom apartment in a new development in Williamsburg.
"We're standing in a split two-bedroom apartment almost 1,100 square feet," said Jay Overbye, vice president and sales manager for 80 Metropolitan. "It's got five great closets. It's got Peruvian walnut floors, 10-foot ceilings and really modern finishes. It also includes a washer dryer and a rooftop cabana that's over 300 square feet with water and electricity."
The property is listed at $799,000. Common charges are $998 per month and taxes are about $40 a month, with a 25-year tax abatement. Among the amenities are an indoor pool and a gym. The outdoor cabana space is included in the asking price through August; after that, it costs $75,000. The building is set to open at the end of the summer.
For a little more space, we checked out a very large two bedroom on Manhattan's East Side listed for $825,000.
"This apartment is an exciting two-bedroom apartment, approximately 1,400 square feet in Midtown, Manhattan with every exposure –north south, east, and west, light emanates from every corner of the apartment," said Halstead Property Executive Vice President Elayne Reimer. "It is a contemporary look with a magnificent gourmet kitchen, 1.5 gorgeous bathrooms and endless closets."
The maintenance is about $2,400 per month. The luxury doorman building includes a roof deck and offers a discounted membership to a health club in the building with a pool and spa. It's been on the market for about two months.
For those looking for a while house, NY1 found a spacious single-family home on a great corner in Whitestone, Queens.
"This is a beautiful center hall colonial. It features a living room with a fireplace, formal dining room, large modern eat-in kitchen, five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, on a quiet tree-lined street," said Ann Marie Folan of the Folan Real Estate Group.
It also has a finished basement with a family room, small backyard and a one-car garage. The place is listed at $808,000 and taxes are $3,500 a year. It's been on the market for eight months.
