Still mourning the loss of their longtime leader, the Shubert Organization named its new chairman today.
Philip J. Smith will now run the theater group in addition to its multi-million dollar foundation.
Smith has acted as the organization's president for over a decade, producing shows, and booking theaters. The group owns 17 New York theaters, making it Broadway's biggest landlord.
Longtime Chairman Gerald Schoenfeld died of a heart attack last month. He led Shubert for more than 35 years.
