Broadway To Lose "Hairspray," Honor Paul Newman
The Broadway musical "Hairspray" is scheduled to close in January 18, 2009.
The critically-acclaimed show based on the cult John Waters comedy will close at the Neil Simon Theatre.
The show opened on Broadway on August 16, 2002, spawned a movie remake and won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
The original star of the musical, Harvey Fierstein, will return to play the role of mother Edna Turnblad on November 11.

Theaters will dim their lights at 8 o'clock tonight in memory of Paul Newman, who made his Broadway debut in 1953, where he met his future wife Joanne Woodward.
Newman appeared in five Broadway productions.
He received a Tony nomination for a 2003 production of "Our Town."
Newman died of cancer last week at the age of 83.
