Broadway's light will dim Tuesday night for legendary theater producer Martin Richards, who died on Monday in his Manhattan home.

Richards, 80, was a part of New York theater for more than 50 years, producing hits including "On The Twentieth Century," "Sweeney Todd" and "La Cage Aux Folles."

He produced the original "Chicago" musical on Broadway and won an Academy Award as a producer of the film version in 2003.

Richards and his wife were instrumental in founding Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

He also established the liver and kidney transplant unit at New York University Langone Medical Center and created the New York Center for Children to care for abused children and their families.
