The troubled Spider-Man musical is on hold for now.

"Spider-Man Turn off the Dark" has shut down for a major revamp, as Sunday's matinee was its final performance at least until next month.

The musical will make changes to the script and choreography, incorporating new songs by U2's Bono and The Edge.

The new version is expected to be more family-friendly and will follow traditional Spider-Man comic books more closely.

"I love this version, and respect it, and I'll miss it, but I'm excited to go in another direction," said Jennifer Damiano, who plays "Mary-Jane."

"Now that we have a clear vision, I feel very confident," said Reeve Carney, who plays "Spider-Man."

"It's not a done thing, and we're all here trying to improve what we have. Just to have that opportunity I think is, we're very grateful," said T.V. Carpio, who plays "Arachne."

The new version will be unveiled on May 12, with opening night now set for June 14.

The musical has endured months of cast injuries, technical problems and a shake-up that saw director and book writer Julie Taymor dropped from the show.
