The author of a book based on the life of a legendary African musician is singing a sour note over a musical celebrating the same artist.
Carlos Moore is suing the producers of the smash musical "Fela!"
His lawyers are demanding a halt to the production, as well as all advertising, promotions and product sales from the show.
The lawsuit also seeks $5 million in damages.
The suit maintains Moore's work is the only authorized biography of Fela Kuti, and that the producers of the award-winning musical lifted entire portions of the book and used it as part of the play's script.
The plaintiff is also trying to stop a London production of "Fela!" that's set to open this month.
A spokesman for the show's producers says he's "shocked at this turn of events" because Moore is on the show's website endorsing it.
