A new workout making its way into health clubs is giving some New Yorkers the "lift" they've been looking for. NY1's Kafi Drexel filed the following report.

A popular new workout at Crunch Fitness clubs called "BodyWeb" is helping students get into the swing of things.

Using Total Resistance Exercise, or TRX suspension trainers, straps anchored to the wall help gym goers pull, lift, and lower their bodies with their own weight for an overall workout.

"You definitely see a lot of results quickly and it uses your center of gravity as well so it challenges your core. It is like extra abs," said Crunch instructor Zuta Gilchriest.

The Navy Seal designed workout also calls for plenty of lunges, squats and bicep curls.

One thing about using suspension and one's own body weight, is the ability to decide how challenging a workout becomes.

"I think the suspension helps overall. I feel like I get a very good core workout and my core gets strengthened," said BodyWeb participant Harouma Ballas.

"It's not as much as lifting weights, but lifting our own body weight. I don't want to get too buff, so it is a great exercise," said BodyWeb participant Makeia Carrier.

Resistance straps may also be a great on-the-go option because they can be used in a small space. Think of it as just one more way of you can "pull" your body together.
