Schumer Slams Inhalable Caffeine Product

Calling the product a potential health threat, Senator Charles Schumer said Thursday that he wants to keep a new inhalable form of caffeine off store shelves.
He said AeroShot shouldn't be sold in the U.S. until the Food and Drug Administration reviews the product.
AreoShot contains powdered caffeine and is the size of a Chapstick. It has the same amount of caffeine as a large cup of coffee.
The maker, Breathable Foods, claims AeroShot is safe for people as young as 12 years old and as a party accessory.
But some doctors and Schumer disagree.
"The truth is, AeroShot is nothing more than a club drug or a party enhancer, designed to give the user the ability to drink until they drop," said Schumer.
"There is a tendency, you want to work for today, you want to work for the next exam, the next night you want to stay awake, and you can put yourself in an addictive spiral that you cannot get yourself out," said Dr. Henock Saint-Jacques, a cardiologist.
AeroShot is already sold online and overseas.
Unless the FDA brings AeroShot under review, it will hit shelves in the city and Boston next month.
