From Wall Street to the yoga mat, one woman's career change is likely to put others in perspective. NY1's Asa Aarons filed the following Employment Report.

How do you go from the halls of Morgan Stanley to being living art in a SoHo storefront? You turn your life, and yourself, upside down.
In an economy loaded with people inventing and reinventing themselves, there a few examples as striking as Lauren Imparato -- a Princeton grad who, up until a year ago, was working in international finance.

"I loved it, I still love the trading floor. I think it's one of the most fun places to work. I found another business that my heart was calling more," Imparato said.

The discovery was an accidental one. A 60 mile a week runner, Imparato wasn't happy with the physical results.

"I noticed that my legs were getting very big and bulky and painful. And my boyfriend suggested to me that I go to a yoga class. And I thought he was full of it," Imparato said.

It was a recommendation that proved practical and ultimately profitable. Imparato took to yoga and quickly accelerated to master classes. Saturday morning yoga with a few friends quickly turned into a group of paying students.

"We started formulating the side business, at the time I had just been promoted at Morgan Stanley and I was determined to stay there. With much urging from my loved ones and my friends I quit April 15th and launched [my business]," Imparato said.

Now that you know that part of the story, let's talk about getting painted in a SoHo window.

Lululemon Athletica sells athletic clothing, including yoga gear, with Imparato in the window dressed in the store's apparel, demonstrating how each curve affects the body -- a guaranteed attention getter.

"If the sun's shining, we see people spending 10, 15, 20 minutes outside. Even on the coldest of days people are out there freezing, but don't wanna leave because they're so captured by what they're seeing in front of them," said Tricia Prange of Lululemon Athletica.

Lauren now teaches yoga and relaxation techniques to some of her former colleagues in the finance world. Some have not been fortunate enough to have their own businesses to fall back on. She believes the same discipline it takes to perform the transformative, almost stunning exercises in yoga, will help people transform lives and careers as well.

"I have many friends that have lost their jobs, many times. And they've only reinvented themselves into something that had been their passion but never had the courage to do or they found something better," Imparato said. "I think if you have faith in your own skills and in your mind and integrity and what is most important to you, you'll totally end up on top."
