This event, which promises an interfaith evening of song and cheer, is running at The York Theatre at St. Peter's through December 31. Tickets start at $59.50.
"A Civil War Christmas"
Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel explores Christmas time during the mid-19th century in her holiday play with music, "A Civil War Christmas." Set against the backdrop of the bloody war that divided our country, this work follows the likes of President Abraham Lincoln and his family, a runaway slave and her daughter and others as they all search for peace and happiness on Christmas Eve. The show is running at The New York Theatre Workshop now through the end of the month.
Christmas Concert At Birdland
Next, it's a swingin' Christmas at Birdland Nightclub with Jim Caruso and company, starting on Friday, December 21. Now in its third year, this jazzy Christmas celebration will feature Caruso, Billy Stritch and Klea Blackhurst, along with Birdland's jazz quartet. Expect to hear festive tunes with a unique spin, like "Sleigh Ride," "The Christmas Waltz" and others. The cover is $30 with a $10 food and drink minimum.
Rachael Sage At Joe's Pub
She's been called a mix between Fanny Brice and Norah Jones, and now songstress Rachael Sage will take on Joe's Pub with her latest show entitled "Tchatchkes and Latkes." The concert, which will serve as a benefit for Hurricane Sandy relief, will feature original songs, shtick and anecdotes, all by Sage. The one-night only event will take place at Joe's Pub on Saturday and tickets start at $12.
