Author R.L. Stine gave young readers "Goosebumps" from those things that go bump in the night. But now the tables have turned. After years of spooking young readers with his best selling series "Fear Street" and "Goosebumps", his readers grew up and finally took their revenge.

"I had this horrifying moment where I realized that I’m nostalgia to them, how would you like to be nostalgia?" Stine said.

So instead of having adults constantly tell him how they remembered growing up on his books, Stine wrote a new adult horror novel called "Red Rain." So fans who read his books and watched the "Goosebumps" TV series in the 90's can now be scared again.

Adults and kids recently came out to meet their horror hero at Barnes and Noble on the Upper East Side.

"I think he realizes that my generation is older and that we need adult books now," noted one fan.

"R.L. Stine really brought it home he was a huge impact on I guess the genre growing up," said another fan.

The New Yorker and one time joke book writer said he was easily frightened as a child but as an adult he just doesn't get scared.

"Scary movies always make me laugh, you know when the shark jumps up and chews up the girl, I’m the on in the theater laughing," Stine said.

Still, Stine said parents never chastise him for scaring their children. Instead, they thank him for getting their kids interested in reading.

"Red Rain" is out just in time for Halloween, but everyday is like Halloween for Stine and his readers.
