Singer Ryan Shaw has been here before and no, not just Rockwood music, but releasing a new album and feeling like he's on the cusp of something big.

"You know it was really crazy because we had just booked like a lot of the big late night talk shows and everything and that first teeter was and we were like right there and everything was moving really great and then the writer's strike happened so all of the television I had just booked kind of just went away," recalls Shaw.

That was 2007 and the album was called "This is Ryan Shaw". But Shaw is back with his new album "Real Love".

And it is a labor of love for him and producer Jimmy Brower who even started a new record label.

"Our first record we put out on a major label and weren't able to really quite get it to all the people we wanted to reach so it came down to do it yourself and that's what we did," says Brower.

Shaw’s background is gospel, his sound is soul, but people often expect something different, like on a recent trip to Las Vegas.

"So I go up to the lady at the desk and she's like, 'What do you do?' And I say, 'Well, I'm a singer.' And she just looks at me and says, 'Well what are you a rapper?' And I was like, 'No.' And she says, 'Oh you sing reggae?'" says Shaw.

But fans know and appreciate Shaw's soulful sound. And ladies if you liked Beyonce singing "You Should Have Put a ring on it" then you'll love Shaw admitting it's true.

Feeling like he's at that tipping point again Shaw is on the road building up that fan base.

"We have a game plan, you know the traditional way of touring. And there's also what we call the miracles which is you know to get a big a television show, for Oprah to call," says Shaw.

Until then, Shaw is singing from the heart and soul -- waiting and praying for that miracle.
