"Stay High," Bronx Graffiti Artist, Dies At 61

The noted Bronx graffiti artist nicknamed "Stay High" has died.
A family member says the 61-year-old artist, who was born Wayne Roberts, was suffering from complications of liver disease and passed away Monday in the Bronx.
Roberts began writing his nickname along the Grand Concourse in the early 1970s. His work was immortalized in Norman Mailer's 1973 book "The Art Of Graffiti."
The artist was arrested in 1973 after New York magazine included a photo of him in a feature on the subway graffiti movement.
Following a long hiatus, Roberts returned to the art scene in 2000 after being recognized by a new generation of artists.
A wake for Roberts will be held Monday at the Unity Funeral Chapel in Manhattan.
