Cirque du Soleil is back and NY1's Arts reporter Stephanie Simon got a sneak preview of the newest show "Zarkana," which is preparing for the big stage in Radio City Music Hall.

What a tangled web Cirque du Soleil weaves. Its new show "Zarkana" combines rock, opera, acrobatics and sheer spectacle inside its new home at Radio City Music Hall.

As the spider lady, performer Cassiopeia has to sing and swing, and she calls herself an "acro-singer."

"The challenge is to control the acrobatics and the songs, because both of them are really difficult," says Cassiopeia. "It's a quest to find the perfect and more amazing performance."

Cirque du Soleil has performed its shows all over the world but coming back to New York City with a new production means high expectations

"If you do a show at Radio City Music Hall, you look at it with the eyes of New Yorkers first," says writer-director Francois Girard. "We're in the big mecca of theater, so there's an extra pressure. But in any case, we're here, spending our day being the audience before the show opens."

Cirque always thinks big, but the troupe had to think even bigger to fill out Radio City Music Hall. With 6,000 seats, that is three times as many as some of the performers are used to with the Las Vegas shows.

With such a huge stage, it was not easy to rehearse ahead of time because they could not find a space equal in size so there's a lot of catching up to do now that they're rehearsing here inside the music hall.

"So it's a challenge, you know, but I saw the Rockettes, so I saw how they used the stage," says choreographer Debra Brown. "But we're the 'Rockets.' We're the summer show, they're the winter show. We're more 'Rockets' than Rockettes."

At the end of the day, "Zarkana" is all about wowing the audience, and the show's production team says the wow factor is at the max.

"Zarkana" blasts off on June 9.
