NY1's weekly segment "Your Weekend Starts Now" shows entertaining picks for great things to do this weekend all around the city. NY1's Arts reporter Stephanie Simon filed the following report. "Sound Affects NYC" at Parsons

There is new interactive work of art at Parsons The New School for Design on Fifth Avenue and 13th Street. The music playing in the headphones is constantly being impacted by what's going on on the street.
"The things that impact the composition are colors, movements, temperature and light and weather information," says composer-engineer Jasper Speicher.
"Sound Affects NYC" is up through Sunday. On Saturday, The New School is hosting its first ever art and design festival with a block party on West 13th Street from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Dance Parade

On Saturday, the Dance Parade welcomes more than 10,000 dancers to show off more than 70 styles of dance. It starts at Broadway and 21st Street and culminates with a DanceFest from 3-7 p.m. at Tompkins Square Park.
Tiempo Libre at the Met Museum

Friday night, the Miami-based Cuban music group Tiempo Libre will be performing at 7 p.m. at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Tickets are $45.
Johnny Mathis at Lehman Center

Saturday night, the great Johnny Mathis returns to Lehman Center to perform his beloved hits. Showtime is 8 p.m. and tickets start at $55.
Amore Opera's "Carmen"

The Amore Opera will be performing Bizet's "Carmen" all weekend at the Connelly Theatre at 220 East Fourth Street. Tickets are only $40 and it is there through May 29th.
"Salaryman" by TAKE

Also this weekend, the city-based dance troupe TAKE is presenting its world premiere of "Salaryman," a salute to Japan’s resilient nature and corporate culture. It's at Dance Theater Workshop from Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.

Thursday night and Friday night, enjoy a little BossaNova style with Bossabrasil at Birdland. Tickets are $30-40.
