NY1's weekly segment "Your Weekend Starts Now" shows entertaining picks for great things to do this weekend all around the city.

Monk at 93: Countdown to 100

First up is a free concert on Thursday night to celebrate the late jazz legend Thelonious Monk. This concert, called "Monk at 93: Countdown to 100," is an evening of free piano performances in celebration of what would have been Monk’s 93rd birthday. Performers include pianist Randy Weston.
The concert is at 7 p.m. Thursday at the World Financial Center Winter Garden. No tickets or reservations are needed.

Les Nubians

Friday night, the Grammy-nominated sister duo Les Nubians are bringing their unique afro-jazz-soul sound to Le Poisson Rouge, along with a nine-piece band. It's part of the French-Cameroonian sisters' new tour in support of their new album, "Nu Revolution."
The concert is at 7 p.m. Friday at 158 Bleecker Street and tickets are $25.

On Saturday, it's time to celebrate the cultural riches of Haiti. Affirmation Arts & Haiti Cultural Exchange present SELEBRASYON! It's a free festival of Haitian music, dance and art. See haitian Jazz bands, films, dancing to traditional Haitian music and visual art. Some of the art on view has not been seen outside of Haiti before and several pieces were recovered from the earthquake
The festival takes place Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. on all three floors of Affirmation Arts at 523 West 37th Street.

2010 Queer Black Cinema International Film Festival

This film festival takes place from Friday through Sunday at the National Black Theatre, on Fifth Avenue between 125th and 126th Streets in Harlem. More than a dozen films are being screened, and festival organizers say they are showing the best films from around the world about the black LGBT experience.
Tickets range in price from $12 for a single ticket to $77 for an all-access pass.
