Whether you're looking for a live concert, trivia night, or outdoor barbeque, the Zagat New York City Nightlife guide suggests Brooklyn newcomer the Bell House for a fun evening out.
"We're multifaceted," says general manger William Crane. "We do everything from bar mitzvahs to national touring acts, indie pop bands, to square dancing for the derby party. "
According to the guide, the space was created by the same people behind venues Union Hall and Floyd NY and is one-part bar and one-part music venue.
The general manager says the venue, which opened in September, was crafted out of a 1920s warehouse that formerly served as a printing press.
As for the decor, Crane credits owner Andrew Templar for the design mix of industrial elements, like exposed brick and beams, with homey touches, such as mismatched furniture and vintage wallpaper.
"He's pretty much stayed true to his design, which I believe I quoted him one time as saying 'grandma punk,'" explains Crane.
The 150-capacity lounge is open seven nights a week and features 12 beers on tap and a large selection of bourbons. The stage area is ticketed and holds up to 350 people.
If you're looking for a bite, Bell House partners with local company Dub Pies to serve traditional Australian meat and veggie pies.
