Singer Shelby Lynne and her band recently performed in Manhattan's Meatpacking District.
"New York's always fun 'cause there's everything in the world here. It's the greatest city on earth, " said Lynne. "We always love playing here, crowds are great, venues are good. We get here and we're like little rats. There's 40 million things to do so we kind of have little time and but we're just kind of scattered."
Her tour is in support of her new CD, "Just a Little Lovin'", which was inspired by 1960s British soul singer, Dusty Springfield.
"Because she's a great singer and I thought it was time people needed to be reminded of her again," said Lynne.
The Grammy winner Lynne has made 10 albums in 20 years and now at 40, she's at the top of her game.
"It's really the music that's in charge, you know, I'm just kind of a medium. It takes you to the place. We as musicians have no choice. It's just what we do. So the music is just captain of the ship and we're on board," said Lynne.
Shelby will perform "Amazing Grace" at the Kennedy Center Honors this year on CBS on December 30.
