The Ziegfeld Theatre held the world premier Tuesday night of "W.", the story of George W. Bush, directed by Oliver Stone.
Stone shared with NY1's George Whipple his view of the president.
"Well, I think he's a disaster as a president, without a doubt," said Stone. "But I kept that out of the movie and some people criticizing me for making it not showing my personal feelings, but, you see, I do feel that's not my job."
Josh Brolin plays Bush.
"George Bush has put more minorities in his administration than any administration in history. There are a lot of positives, but not enough to me! "said Brolin. "We all feel the weight of where we are right now. I hope that through this movie we look back on the history of who we chose for the last eight years, and make a more educated decision in the future."
James Cromwell plays Bush Sr.
"To understand why those decisions were made, how we were mislead, what are the dynamics, that's what this film is about," said Cromwell.
Ellen Burstyn plays his wife, Barbara Bush.
"She seemed to me to be a really strong woman, dedicated as a mother and a true matriarch," she said of her character.
Elizabeth Banks is Laura Bush in the film.
"It's hard to find fault with her," said Banks. "I think it's why she remained above the fray, because she doesn't politicize herself. Her issues are right down the middle."
Richard Dreyfuss is Vice President Dick Cheney.
"I think that he's a vice president who doesn't understand the difference between being vice president and being a lobbyist," said Cheney.
Jeffrey Wright portrays General Colin Powell.
"He was very much the moral center of this story and the center of pragmatic thinking," said Wright.
"W." is in theaters this weekend.
