The new Ridley Scott movie "Body of Lies" had its world premier at Jazz at Lincoln Center in the Time Warner Center on Columbus Circle Thursday night.

The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a two-fisted CIA Agent active in the Middle East.

"I think the most important thing you can do with a film that deals with an issue that is so prevalent on everyone's mind, like the War in Iraq or War on Terror is to not impose any political belief or not tell people what to think," he said.

The movie also stars Russell Crowe as his stateside boss.

"I don't believe in that theatrical tenant that you have to fall in love with your character," said Crowe. "I've always thought that's dangerous ground, because then you get into the area of losing objectivity. You know, that's an actors thing right? They always say that you must always fall in love with your character. Okay son, well you're playing Adolf Hitler. Now how do you feel about the bloke? 'Cause that is when it gets silly, right?"

Following up on the "Departed" and "Blood Diamond" this is another role for DiCaprio with a political undertone.

"This film and I suppose 'Blood Diamond' and 'Departed' or films like that, they had this great sort of political undertone and they were very topical and pertinent to issues people are discussing worldwide," said the actor. "They happened to be incorporated into an action scenario, and that's been the result of both of these films."

Co-star Crowe disagrees that politics play a role in this film.

"Our world, particularly the world through America's eyes, is all about politics right now. This is just another world that Ridley Scott has captured for you in the cinema," said Crow. "It's like the world of 'Blade Runner' or world of 'Gladiator.' You step into the world of espionage. This is where spies live and nobody tells the truth."

"Body of Lies" will be in theaters Friday, October 10th.
