It's a call for revolution on the Great White Way, as “A Tale of Two Cities" the musical, based on the Charles Dickens novel, prepares to make its Broadway bow.

"A Tale of Two Cities" comes to New York by way of an out-of-town tryout in Sarasota’s Asolo Repertory Theatre.

Warren Carlyle, who choreographed the production, will serve as both director and choreographer for the New York premiere.

“What attracted me to the project was this story, this beautiful tiny love story in an epic setting,” said Carlyle. “The opportunities there for movement are so many. It's a thrilling story to be able to tell and a puzzle as well.”

The show stars James Barbour, Greg Edelman and Natalie Toro.

Barbour, who will reprise his role as Sydney Carton, is back on Broadway for the first time since 2004, after pleading guilty to endangering the welfare of a minor.

“The journey of ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ I started in 2004, when we were finishing ‘Assassins,’ and it's been an amazing journey, so rewarding,” said Barbour. “We had the out-of-town tryout in Sarasota at the Asolo, sold that out, and I’m so excited to be here.”

Jill Santoriello will be making her Broadway debut by bringing the French Revolution to life. Santoriello is the book writer, composer and lyricist for the show, a project she began working on more than 20 years ago.

“I had already written a really, really terrible ‘Wuthering Heights’ musical, and my brother convinced me, go somewhere else with that because everyone's dead at the end. It's just depressing, you need to have something positive,” said Santoriello. “So I looked around for another story that would be equally romantic and epic and have all those passions that I found so intriguing as a teenager. And I read ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ and I fell in love with it.”

“A Tale of Two Cities" begins previews on August 19 with an opening night set for September 18.
