You don't have to fly to Saigon to have authentic Vietnamese soup. Head on down to Chinatown and grab a comforting bowl of pho, the Vietnamese specialty. The Zagat Restaurant guide pointed NY1 to three locations to find this treat.

Pho Viet Huong
73 Mulberry Street
1-212-233-8988

According to Zagat, this Vietnamese "standby" delivers "superior", "bargain"-rate bowls of pho to "tantalize the taste buds." Its noodle soups are the "highlight" pho sure, but the "extensive menu" boasts plenty of other choices for a "quick" lunch between court sessions.

Out of a possible 30, Pho Viet Huong gets 22 for food, 9 for decor, and 13 for service. The cost of an average dinner is $18.

Nha Trang
87 Baxter Street
1-212-233-5948

Zagat says Nha Trang on Baxter Street is "well-vetted" for "plentiful" portions of "awesome" "Vietnamese favorites" served in the "blink of an eye" at "low, low prices"; sure, they're seriously "plain", but devotees don't go for the decor.

Out of a possible 30, Zagat gives Nha Trang 21 for food, a 7 for décor and 15 for service. The average cost of dinner here is $17.

Pho Bang
157 Mott Street
1-212-966-3797

At this Vietnamese spot, they ladle out "big bowls" of "light" but "deeply satisfying" pho soups; "no-decor" digs and "gruff" service are easy to take given the "quick" turnaround and "dirt-cheap" prices.

Out of a possible 30, Pho Bang gets 20 for food, 6 for decor, and 12 for service. The average price of dinner off the regular menu is $15.
