Project Sunshine, a nonprofit that provides free educational, recreational, and social programs to hospitalized children, recently held a benefit at Nikki Beach on the Upper East Side.

The venue was named for the famous night club of the same name in Saint-Tropez, France and the highlight of the evening was a performance by singer John Legend.

George Whipple: Why did you decide to turn out and support Project Sunshine?

Legend: Well, my girlfriend Christine is very involved with Project Sunshine. She's a volunteer and she helped organize this event and if I didn't want to get kicked out of bed I had to be here tonight.

Teigen was inspired by the singer to give back.

"I clearly see John doing so much stuff with charity work and everything and when you're around him so often you start to feel like you're not doing anything," she says.

The event featured everything from moving art and music to a catwalk full of sexy bikinis.

"We wanted to make it a night of fashion and of art and music. The fashion show tied in with the fact that we had these amazing designers that wanted to be involved with Project Sunshine so much that they donated to the gift bags and with auction items as well," says Teigen. "We had Ashley Turen, she gave away a whole shopping spree that ended up ending at her store. Noah G Pop, he drew an amazing portrait of John that we auctioned off and I actually won. And then we had Monica from L*Space, an amazing, brilliant swimsuit designer, and she had suits and gift bags and everything, so these people were just more that happy to lend their name and their products to the event."

Joseph Weilgus, the founder of Project Sunshine, has helped children worldwide.

"Project Sunshine runs all sorts of free educational and recreational and social programs for children with illness across the U.S., Canada, Africa, China, and the Middle East," says Weilgus.

"It's a tremendous opportunity to show support of a great organization that's coming out, trying to bring kids' lives together, make it a better place for their medical issues and things like that," says Jets linebacker Bart Scott.
