There are many ways for New Yorkers to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's discovery of New Amsterdam this September. NY1's Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.

The NY400 celebration of Henry Hudson's discovery of New York is unveiling a "Dutch treat" for New Yorkers next month.

Bowling Green Park in Lower Manhattan will be turned into a Dutch village in early September, giving New Yorkers a taste of what the Netherlands and the Dutch agri-food sector have to offer.

Starting September 4, the 10-day traveling exhibit celebrates the ingenuity and creativity of the Dutch with a theme of "innovation through tradition."

Consisting of 12 traditional Dutch houses and a demonstration greenhouse, the New Amsterdam Village will showcase Dutch agricultural products and traditional crafts.

A life-size windmill will also be on hand, similar to the ones located in southern Holland in the village called Kinderdijk.

Visitors can sample and buy traditional Dutch food, view demonstrations of wooden shoemaking and glass blowing and discover Dutch floriculture products. The open air stage will include traditional Dutch costume shows and music, culinary demonstrations, and floral workshops.

The New Amsterdam Village is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from September 4-14. Admission is free. Visit www.ny400.org/events for details.

Now here's a D'Elia's Deal you don't want to miss for a taste of Niew Amsterdam. Fifty participating restaurants throughout New York City will offer $24 meals during a special restaurant week from September 5-20. The cost of $24 cost represents the equivalent of the 60 Dutch guilders spent to purchase Manhattan. Visit www.tastenewamsterdam.com for details.
