"The Answer Man", a new romantic comedy, recently premiered on the Upper East Side. Jeff Daniels plays a best-selling author who's retreated from the world.
"I play a guy named Arlen Faber who wrote a book called 'Me and God' which claims to have the answers to all the big questions and people actually believed it to the tune of about 92 million copies sold," said Daniels. "It turns out, Arlen really has no answers. He's as messed up as anybody, perhaps more so."
Lauren Graham plays the chiropractor who changes Daniel's life.
"He's actually gone into hiding and doesn't want the fame and doesn't want to be asked any more questions and his back goes out and he comes to me and I heal him in more ways than one," said Graham.
Daniels had a great well of experience to draw on when making a movie about love.
"I just celebrated my 30th anniversary with Kathleen, so it ends up being this deeper love and this understanding of each other to the point now where the love is there but it's also a completeness, I mean she completes me," said Daniels.
"Thumbsucker's" Lou Taylor Pucci also appeared in the film.
"Everybody is affected by their parents and this guy is completely affected by his father, his father is a drunk," said Taylor Pucci. "Through Jeff's character he finds something way better and I think he finds whatever anybody calls God. It's not a person
for him, it's not a place for him, it's not heaven, it's not earth. I think it's a connection to other people."
"The Answer Man" opens in theaters on July 24th.
