Governor David Paterson is reportedly pushing for state funding for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
An aide told the New York Times that Paterson plans to push the recommendations made by the Ravitch Commission to Albany lawmakers over the next few weeks.
The Ravitch plan calls for tolls on the East River and Harlem River Bridges, and a new payroll tax for employers in counties served by the MTA.
If lawmakers in Albany approve an increase in the budget before March 25th, the MTA could modify the planned fare hikes and service cuts.
