Starting Tuesday, Manhattan-bound A trains will no longer be making stops at Beach 25th, 44th, and 67th Streets in the Rockaways.
Queens-bound trains won't stop at Beach 90th or 105th Streets.
That means commuters will have to scramble for detours for an entire year -- until fall 2011 -- while crews make subway repairs.
Commuters who spoke with NY1 say they're not looking forward to doubling back to catch trains to Manhattan.
"I would have to leave my house at least 35 minutes earlier to catch the train going to Far Rockaway, then getting off down that station and go under to go over to come back down this way," said one straphanger.
"I do live in the 60s so it's a convenience here for me, so as a commuter I would end up having to go all the way to 90th Street. That's 20 to 25 blocks I would have to walk,"s aid another.
An MTA spokesperson says the construction project will cost nearly $13 million and will include upgrades to stairways, platforms, and lighting.
