Some new signals popping up across the five boroughs are taking the guesswork out of crossing the street.

The Department of Transportation has installed 180 countdown crosswalk signals at busy intersections around the city as part of a pilot program.

The signals feature a countdown clock to let pedestrians know how much time they have before the light changes.

The DOT will study the intersections to determine if the new signals increase safety.
