A ceiling collapse in a subway station continues to cause disruptions for thousands of riders of the Number 1 train.

New York City Transit says debris on the track has forced 1 trains to bypass the 181st Street station.

Crews are looking into the cause of Sunday night's collapse of the brick facade and are working to make repairs.

No one was injured in the incident, but riders say the inconvenience coupled with the heat made for a frustrating commute home Monday.

"It's beyond crowded. It's stuffy. There's no direction on what you're doing, how to get out of there," said one rider. "You feel like your trapped. And you come up and look at the line. Every bus is going to be jam packed. Two hours to get home."

Dozens try to pack onto the free shuttle buses being provided to make up for the lack of 1 train service.

"It's unfortunate," said another. "I really heard about it this morning on the radio, but I thought it would be finished by now. Not the case."

"I just got off the bus. I'm waiting for the train and I see the MTA workers there and they just said for us to get on the shuttle. And all the buses are packed," said another.

There is no 1 train service between the 168th Street Station and the Dyckman Street Station in both directions. Northbound 1 trains are ending at 168th Street.

Shuttle train service is running between 242nd Street and Dyckman Street, making all stops.

Shuttle buses are running between Dyckman Street and 168th Street.

Customers can also use the M100 or the BX7 bus service running on Broadway.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority would not say how long the changes will be in effect. However, the repairs to the track may take several days to complete.
