The MTA unveiled its five-year capital program Monday which includes a list of proposed improvements and additions to the city's transit system.

Before the agency submits its final plan to state lawmakers in the fall, it's asking for public feedback.

The program, which comes out every five years, is a mixed bag of projects that range from routine maintenance to high profile projects.

The latest list includes more than 500 new subway cars, 2,800 buses and a new Smart Card to replace existing MetroCard technology.

Big ticket items include completing the first phase of the Second Avenue Subway, extending the Number 7 line to Manhattan's West Side and bringing the Long Island Rail Road into Grand Central.

The price tag for the new capital plan is $25.5 billion. While the recent state bailout will pay for some of it, the MTA still needs about $10 billion.

The agency hopes to get the remaining money from Albany.
