The city is getting more federal funding to help the unemployed get back on their feet.
Speaking at a Workforce One career center in Jamaica, Queens, Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis announced Thursday that the city will receive nearly $32 million in stimulus money.
The funds will towards job training and placement services for 10,000 New Yorkers.
"We'll be using these new federal dollars to build on successful training programs that already exist within the city agencies and create some new ones as well," said the mayor.
"The focus is on people who live here in the community and the jobs that are created here. Small business is the engine of growth for the entire economy and it's wonderful the city has put forward so much effort to do that," said Solis.
The funding will be offered through the city's Workforce One career centers.
