In this season of giving, many are asking for forgiveness from President George Bush before he leaves office.
Junk bond king Michael Milken, media mogul Conrad Black, and U.S.-born Taliban soldier John Walker Lindh are among the more than 2,000 people who applied for official pardons from the Justice Department.
Pardons for former California Representative Randy Cunningham and Louisiana Governor Edwin W. Edwards are also being considered.
Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens could also be on the list.
Bush has issued 171 pardons during his two terms, less than half as many issued by former presidents Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan.
Bush is expected to issue two more rounds of pardons before Christmas.
