Voters’ Approval – Overview: Memo by NY1 Pollster Mickey Blum
• Mayor Michael Bloomberg still gets approval from 69 percent of city voters, with only 21 percent disapproving. The mayor still gets good marks from every group in the city.
• The mayor’s handling of the term limits issue does not appear to have hurt the mayor: 46% said it had no effect and 22% said they actually thought more of him. Three in ten (29%) thought less of the mayor for his handling of the issue.
• Christine Quinn gets approval from a plurality of voters (40%), nearly twice the disapproval (23%), but more than a third (36%) of the voters were not sure.
• A majority (51%) approves of the City Council’s job, more than double those who disapprove (22%), and another quarter (26%) are not sure.
• Council member who? Only 38% of NYC registered voters know who their council member is; with almost half saying they do not know (48%) and another 13% saying they are not sure.
• But half of the voters (49%) approve the job the job their council member is doing, again more than double the number who disapprove (19%).
