Mayor Michael Bloomberg hosted a welcome home celebration at City Hall Park today for 10 hometown athletes who competed in this year's Olympic Games.

Just last month the athletes were victorious in Beijing, competing for Team USA in judo, boxing, table tennis and fencing.

The six medals won by the fencers are the most ever by an American team at the Olympics.

"Fencers from New York have represented the United States in the Olympics in almost in every, every game since the start in 1896," said Silver medalist Timothy Morehouse. "We're very proud to have brought home medals to New York City and to be Olympians in fencing really represents such a great history amongst the schools that are in the city."

"It's a great honor to be here," added fellow Olympic Silver medalist Emily Cross. "Some of our team are born and bred New Yorkers, and others are more recent additions to the fold. But we're all certainly proud to call this city home and to have been able to represent it in Beijing."

The mayor presented all the athletes with Crystal Apple awards for their achievements.
